Episode 51 - Paul Behaving Badly

We all know the routine. We’re reading through the New Testament expecting to find beautiful words like “Love is patient. Love is kind.” Or “Neither height nor depth can separate us from the love of God.'“ But instead we stumble across this: “Slaves obey your earthly masters” (Ephesians 6:5); “It is a disgrace for a women to speak in the church” (1 Corinthians 14:35). Somehow these passages don’t always feel like they fit with our current context and how we see God at work in the world.

This week on the podcast Patrick is giving us a preview of his upcoming class “Paul Behaving Badly” that he will be teaching at Lord of Life. It turns out there are plenty of things that appear in Paul’s letters that are really challenging for us to understand by our modern standards.
