This week the Beyond Sunday Team had a chance to sit down with Bishop Mike Rinehart, bishop of the Texas Louisiana Gulf Coast Synod of the ELCA. We joined Bishop Mike at the synod office and put him on the hot seat to answer some of our most pressing questions, What exactly does a bishop do? What are the blessings and challenges of working in a national denomination? What’s it like to only be able to walk diagonally? What does it mean to respond to national issues on behalf of many churches and congregations? Why don’t you get to wear a cool hat?
